Recessionista Faux Sure!

Unsure of what to wear when the temperatures drop?

A faux-fur vest could be a great solution!

The faux-fur vest is off the hook and one of the great must haves for fall. I will say that celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe may have been the influence here, as she always looks so insanely fabulous in her oversized shades, bellbottom jeans and peasant blouses. (That hair and those trademark fur vests of hers make us all about jealous.)

I just love the look, and you can get it now for only $60, but there has been an invasion of the faux-type aesthetic all over the place. It’ll make you feel good.

This vest is on pre-order in extra-small and small sizes (medium and large sizes are available now!), so get those fingers snapping!

Royals And Rock Climbers Converge At Peter Jensen

Since becoming a designer, Danish-born, London-based Peter Jensen has never lived in his native country. “In England, I’m perceived as a Danish designer, and here I’m always perceived as an international designer,” he said earlier today, over lunch at a café in Copenhagen. “I think I sort of land in between.” That, of course, makes him of particular interest to the locals, including Crown Princess Mary, who was a very special guest yesterday at his Copenhagen fashion week show.

Jensen’s royal visitor got a look at his menswear and Resort collections; his women’s collection will be unveiled on September 12 at New York’s Milk Studios. A bit of a pop culture archaeologist, Jensen has for past collections found unlikely muses in Sissy Spacek and Tonya Harding. He made us promise not to reveal the inspiration behind his upcoming collection, but let’s just say she has a few things in common with Spacek—among them a birth year, a weird beauty, and a memorable turn in an iconic horror movie.

For his Copenhagen show, though, Jensen pulled a couple books off the shelves and took a trip down memory lane. The menswear was inspired by a tome about Scandinavian rock climbers in the seventies, the Resort collection by a favorite childhood book about a girl throwing a birthday party. Which translates as, among other things, short and tight shorts on men, gift ribbon and party streamer prints on women, and throwback shades of blue, brown, and yellow on both. He had boy meet girl by adding those striped socks that observers of a certain age might remember from soccer practice and summer camp. “I thought [the socks] sort of brought it to a quirkier level with the womenswear,” Jensen explained. “It is very childish, but I think that’s sort of what we do.”

Exclusive Eminem’s Record Producer Dishe - Hollis

JJ: I have done two sessions with him. We’ve done three songs together now and we are working on other stuff.

Us: You said his work ethic was very serious, very detail-oriented…

UsMagazine.com: What was your favorite part of working with Eminem?

JJ: We’re going to get started in another 30 days. We are working on ideas, I’m going to get in with him and whoever else is involved and start working on the album. I’ve been working with him for over three years, producing and writing for him. We’re working on some new stuff and I think creatively B.O.B and I have had many firsts together. He’s very talented. He is a Jack of all trades — he plays guitar, keys, writes, raps, sings.  I’m sure he’d pick up a saxophone if it called for it and try to play that.

Us: How would you sum up your goals for his album?

JJ: I think he is just trying to write some classic records. Some really good, solid songs.

Jim Jonsin: It was my first time working with him. What was my favorite part? I guess just creating and coming up with ideas and kind of getting to know him. It’s kind of rare to be in a room with a guy like that. So being a fan at first was really cool, you know? It’s one of those things where you go ‘holy s— I’m in here working with Eminem.’ That is a big deal for someone like me. Just meeting him as a person was probably the coolest part. Working with him in the studio is pretty standard, you write songs, you record them, you put down ideas, make beats. It is all about kicking it with the person. He is a lot more serious than most artists I’ve worked with. He takes his business and craft and music very seriously. He is very detail-oriented, so it could be something like a mix of drums on a record, and he is going to be really crucial about how it sounds, and crucial about instrumentation, his lyrics, his delivery.

JJ: He has a strong work ethic. I’m a father, he’s a father, [and] he came in at a certain time, early in the afternoon and he planned to leave like [at] a job. He went in, he did his thing, and was out at a certain time to be with his kid and his family, which I admire. It’s kind of hard [having a family] in this business, but if you can balance it, it’s a really good thing.

Us: So right now you’re in the process with working with B.O.B?

Us: Why does this album differ from Eminem’s past ones?

Us: How is T.I.’s album coming along?

JJ: Because he had me producing records on there. No, first off, that is actually a good point,Hollister, he had other producers working on this album with him, and not only Dre. That was a huge part of it –different sounds, different ideas. Not taking anything [away] from Dre. because he’s a genius, but this was a way for Eminem to grow and learn more from different people. I’m always learning, no matter who I work with I learn different things, and I think the same thing goes for Eminem. If you’re working with new producers, you’re seeing different angles, and different sounds being used, different motivation and things like that.  I think that’s what makes this album different.  Also, maybe what he is going through in his life right now, [is] different than before.

Eminem is sitting on top of the music world for another week, with his Recovery disc spending a fifth week on top of the Billboard Top 200 albums chart and his second single off it, “Love the Way You Lie” with Rihanna, topping the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for its second week. So what makes the hip-hop mastermind tick? I chatted with one of the album’s main producers, Jim Jonsin, about that and the time he’s spent with T.I. and B.o.B.,Laguna Beach, too!

Creative, fanciful couture at Franck Sorbier - NBA

PARIS – Franck Sorbier proved that in couture, it’s creativity and technical savoir faire — and not deep pockets — that really count. The veteran Frenchman’s fall-winter 2011 show in a tiny hall lent to him by Sotheby’s auction house, was at the opposite end of the spectrum from the big-budget megaproductions put on by luxury conglomerates. But the collection didn’t suffer for it — au contraire.

As Paris’ three-day-long haute couture collections wind down Wednesday,NBA, Sorbier’s show was a much-needed reminder that couture need not be smothered in sequins or dripping with rhinestones to be desirable.

An off-the-shoulder dress vibrated in bubblegum pink, while a long, lean, lacy evening gown smoldered in fiery red lace.

A bustier in papier mache from old newspaper clippings had faux nipples made from wine corks. A baroque mirror with an ornate gilded frame was strapped to the model’s chest,Coogi, like a bustier. Woven raffia in saturated jewel tones became a ravishing, African-themed sheath dress. A Plane Indian coat in leather hung with dangling fringe was paired with a ballerina’s skirt worn low around the model’s ankle.

Sorbier has gone trough hard financial times of late, and Wednesday’s collection — full of his trademark inventive, almost surrealist, looks in a rainbow of buoyant colors — represented a return to happier times.

Damir Doma Plays By The Bo Wholesale Primp clothin

,Wholesale Primp clothing

Damir Doma’s capelike jackets and voluminous pants have attracted a zealous following of free-spirited men who refuse to be poured into skinny jeans. So when the Croatia-born, Germany-raised menswear designer announced he was launching a women’s collection for Fall.brand clothing, curiosity reached a fever pitch. Who is the Doma woman and will she, too, reject the lean and narrow? On the whole, she did.wholesale clothing. “I’m a special case,” explained the soft-spoken designer. “I like sensitive men, but I always think of women as strong, proud, wholesale and structured.” (It could be because Doma’s mother is herself a designer with her own factory, where his collection is produced.) His debut women’s show last night brought the fashion crowd all the way over to a high school library in Paris’ academic Left Bank. The setting fit the look: black platform sandals worn with ankle socks, wire-rim spectacles, supersized sarouel pants, wholesale and cocoon coats. They were cut to flatter—if not always in the most expected ways. “I love beautiful arms and shoulders,” Doma said, “but after the casting for this show,Wholesale Gucci Jeans, I found that a good knee is the hardest thing to find.”
